What materials does Dear Juliet use?

Our pieces are crafted from recycled Sterling Silver 925 and finished with 2.5-micron 18K gold vermeil — a thick, high-quality gold layer applied over sterling silver. We choose these materials because they're better for you and better for the planet.

Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?

Yes. Because our base metal is recycled Sterling Silver 925, our pieces are nickel-free and suitable for sensitive skin. If you have a known metal allergy, we recommend starting with a short wear test.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?

We recommend removing your pieces before showering. Water exposure — especially hot water — can accelerate tarnishing and gradually wear down the gold vermeil layer over time. It's a small habit that makes a big difference in longevity.

What about swimming, sweat, and the ocean?

Please remove your jewelry before swimming, working out, or going in the ocean or hot tub. Chlorine, saltwater, and sweat are the top culprits for premature wear on gold vermeil. Treat your pieces as the finishing touch — put them on last, take them off first.

Can I spray perfume or apply lotion while wearing my jewelry?

Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, sunscreen, and lotions. These products contain chemicals and oils that can dull the finish and break down the gold layer. Apply products first, let them absorb or dry, then put on your jewelry.

Will my jewelry tarnish?

All sterling silver and gold vermeil jewelry can tarnish over time — it's a natural process. With proper care (keeping it dry, away from chemicals, and stored correctly), you can significantly slow tarnishing and keep your pieces looking bright for much longer.

How do I clean my jewelry?

Gently wipe your pieces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after each wear. For a deeper clean, use a slightly damp cloth — no soaking — and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cloths, ultrasonic cleaners, and silver-polishing dips, which can strip the gold vermeil layer.

How should I store my jewelry?

Store each piece in its pouch or a separate compartment of a jewelry box to prevent scratching. Keep jewelry away from humidity — avoid leaving it in the bathroom. Airtight zip bags are also great for slowing tarnish when pieces are not in regular rotation.

How do I find my ring size?

What if my ring doesn't fit?
